Blog 17 Hook

In this reading Hook talks about sexism, which supports feminism. Sex discrimination is what we see when women and men are not treated equally whether it’s in the work place or in society in general. Sexism is still seen till this day, women and men no matter how we try are almost never seen to be the same or equal to one another. Ideas from generations ago about women are still practiced till this day. Some women still believe that they should only be house wives and that man is the voice of a house hold. To many people women are seen to be dependent on others and men are usually independent. Women are very stereotyped and they usually can’t be looked at as independent it’s very hard for society to accept the idea of a woman living on her own. And because society is not fond of such a thing women would probably never be looked to be as equal as men. Yes there are many women taking more steps towards independence and they are fighting for their equality wherever it’s not given to them, but that does not mean that they are actually treated with that equality. When will this stop? When will we all be looked at as humans? I say when society stops being so ignorant about the rights of women and the way they should be treated then maybe, just maybe we can have a world of equality between both genders. Sexism is an issue that should be looked into and resolved for the better of not only the women in the world but for the coming generations.

Your blog had a lot of insight from you and your opinions, which was great. I really got to see how you feel about sexism in society today. But I would have loved to hear if you like, did not like, agreed with, or disagreed with issues Hooks talked about in the reading. Nice blog though!! :)
