According to Stanton woman have been segregated against in many ways. Women had to abide laws that they had no say in. They had to follow laws of country that is built on equality yet they weren’t treated equal to men. If a women were married she had no right to ask for a divorce no matter what the situation is, only the man was able to divorce. He took dowry from the women and took over all her property. Women had to by law abide their husbands by doing all they ask for. These women like the rest had no voice in society, and had no right to vote. Women make up half of the nations population yet when it comes to voting they weren’t allowed to vote. Women were not superior to man and couldn’t hold a job with the same ranking as of a man. There were many situations as to how women were treated unequally and unjust. It is like men have more power than women. Stanton was sick of not being able to do with the men in her graduating class could do; she was upset with how women were treated. So, she decided to put together a convention were she proposed her ideas of equality between men and women. She explained how unjust it really is to be a woman in those days, and she finally got people to stand beside her and argue with her. Today as women we live equally to men, we hold the same jobs and study the same subjects. Thanks to the women’s right movement I’m here today, becoming the person I’ve always dreamed id be.
